Toddler approved lamb meatballs, springy shopping finds, this week's three book club picks, and more mom stuff from around the internet
Happy Wednesday, mamas!
Hey, you! The Northeast had its first real taste of spring this week, and oh my gosh, we soaked up every second of it! We walked, we splashed in puddles, we went to the newest (kid-friendly!) brewery that opened in Saratoga and sat *drum roll* outside!!! Today is back to 30-degree temps today…but I’m not losing hope. We’re getting there, mamas — playground weather is around the corner. But for now, we’re in shorts one minute, and the next, we’re in a faux fur coat. If you live in a subtropical climate, I envy you! (Half kidding, I really do love having four seasons 🤪)
CLICK IF…
You’re curious if your fave NFL team provides family support for players on game day (we’re talking areas to breastfeed, childcare rooms, etc.)
You need a reminder of how incredible our bodies are both before and after babies
You and your kiddoes love a Starbucks/Target run (but actually I want one that says 'on mommy’s tab')
You’re tired of boring toddler rain gear (how cute are these?!)
You feel like you can never complete one thought when catching up with friends (while the kids are around)
FINDS: Spring Fun!
I’m getting so excited for warmer days, which will bring endless opportunities for our littles to wear adorable spring dresses, fun sunnies, cute mini fedoras, denim rompers, and little leather sandals — I could go on and on! Shop some of the items currently in my cart for my daughter, my nieces and the other special little ones in my life <3
EATS: Lamb Meatballs with Buttery Lemon Orzo
We all run out of motivation to cook dinner sometimes, right? I wanted to order in (again), but after a quick Google search, I stumbled upon this recipe by a Louisiana dad, Dude That Cookz, and I was inspired. I did another quick search and found that lamb is a great source of iron for babes 6m+, per Solid Starts. My 20-month-old devoured these meatballs (the parm cheese certainly helped lol), and it made me wish I had introduced this protein source much earlier! I highly recommend trying this out for an easy dinner or lunch that the adults and older toddlers will enjoy -- it’s definitely on its way to becoming a regular in our home cooking rotation.
MOM MAIL BOOK CLUB: Your Places series, by Jon Klassen
This week’s Mom Mail Book Club pick is actually a series of three beautiful books written and illustrated by Jon Klassen. When we first started reading these books a few weeks ago, I immediately noticed the calming vibe they create. There’s something about the eye-catching illustrations alongside short and sweet writing that reads like a breath of fresh air. The books are especially great for bedtime (or naptime!) as each book starts with the sun rising, then builds an environment (Your Forest, Your Island, Your Farm) item by item, and at the end of the story the sun goes down and the place goes to sleep. My daughter loves them all but seems to request Your Farm the most, and I’m guessing it's because there’s a ‘horsey’ in that one. If you have a baby shower to attend that is requesting books instead of cards, these would be great! But honestly, they’d make an excellent addition to any young child’s library.
Don’t forget that you can be gifted a copy of these books by forwarding this email to a mom friend and encouraging them to subscribe. Each time you forward a Mom Mail email, it counts as one entry. When you forward an email, make sure to cc ‘mommailbymads@gmail.com’ so we can count your entry. The book winner will be contacted via email :)
Thank you for subscribing to Mom Mail! Until next week <3
